Jellico Road
A Norfolk-based trio that are a breath of fresh air to our Country scene - both male AND female singers, plus a pedigree'd Lead Guitarist & harmonies man, you'll see a line-up that's both unusual AND fairly-priced, but with real quality as well. Their song-list is like a who's-who of international Country and goes from the more "standard" type of Line / Western Dance songs to some more unusual ones - and on these they carry a playlist with them which (for those who can't recognise it) has the most popular linedance(s) shown at the side of each song.
DAWN STANFIELD is a lovely singer AND a very bubbly character - audiences take to her almost immediately because apart from her actual singing talent (which was honed over a number of years fronting a "Blues & Covers" band) she is one of the friendliest people you're likely to meet as well. Since coming into Country full time she has developed into one of THE top females singers in British Country, and certainly one of the most enthusiastic for performing it 'live' ...Gary & Dawn's voices also suit each other well so of course there are a number of duets (like "Islands In The Stream" for example) that other bands just don't have the singers for - another "plus" for this exciting band.
In the autumn of 2011 the 3rd part of the jigsaw arrived - in the form of GARY TAYLOR, a likeable & chatty guy originally from the Scottish highlands - studying music at Perth College while he was up there, then touring the UK with mainstream bands before finally settling down in Norfolk. Gary's the "other" main vocalist in Jellico Road, and also plays rhythm guitar. Over the years he's worked with some big names in the music industry but at last he's found what he was looking for: a band that not only love (and play) Country music - always his first love - but who have quickly become good friends as well.
Last, but by no means least, is the anchor-man (and the founder of the "Jellico Road" concept) - JOHN HENRY, an ex-Londoner who moved up to Norfolk a few years ago and has never looked back since. To say John is "experienced" would be the understatement of the year - he's a TOP class lead guitarist, versatile, and after world-tours, records, etc. on the mainstream music side he was introduced by a fellow-guitarist to the world of Country music, which he immediately took a strong liking to. Shortly after he helped form the talented "Union Jack" - a modern, Country Rock band, and enjoyed some years playing in the USA + some of our "special" festivals (like the Americana) before he found himself preferring to be at home more & more. Shortly after that he developed the original line-up of "Sidewinder" - with who else but Craig Whyte (!) and another highly talented musician called Stuart Payne.
Everything's gone full circle for JELLICO ROAD since their early, experimental days, and in 2011 they really found their niche in our Country scene - the word is buzzing now, they're on a roll, and the rest, as they say, is (about to become) history....
